Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Dover, Kent

Contract Type: Full-time, long term (Temp to perm is possible)

Salary: £85 - £105 a day

Hours: 8:30 - 15:30 Mon-Fri

This school caters to a wide range of special education needs (SEN) such as Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), language and communication needs, sensory processing needs, trauma and Opposition Defiant Disorder (ODD). This school has a dedicated team of educators and support staff that work collaboratively to empower our students to achieve their full potential and embrace students' unique styles of learning.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 or small group support to students with SEN, adapting teaching methods to meet individual learning styles.
  • Assisting the Class Teacher in creating and implementing tailored learning plans.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitoring and recording students' progress and contributing to progress reviews.
  • Participating in training and professional development opportunities.
  • Supporting the pupils emotionally alongside their studies.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, young people or adults with SEN.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with students.
  • A driving licence is preferred due to the location of the school.
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions.
