Teaching Personnel is seeking a part‑time Design & Technology Technician to support a welcoming and well‑equipped secondary school in

Dorchester .

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, organised individual who enjoys working in a hands‑on environment and wants to play an important role in supporting students’ learning.

Whether you have experience in education, engineering, manufacturing, construction, or another workshop‑based setting, this role offers the chance to make a real difference within a busy Design & Technology department.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing materials, tools and equipment for practical lessons.
  • Maintaining workshop machinery and ensuring equipment is safe and ready for use.
  • Supporting teaching staff during practical sessions where required.
  • Managing stock levels and assisting with the ordering of materials and resources.
  • Keeping workshop areas clean, organised and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and basic repairs to equipment.
  • Contributing to the smooth day‑to‑day running of the Design & Technology department.
  • We’re looking for someone who
  • Has experience working with tools, machinery or within a practical workshop environment.
  • Has a good understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Is organised, reliable and able to manage their workload effectively.
  • Works well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Has strong communication skills and a proactive approach.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
