Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil on a 1:1 basis in a welcoming primary school in Gateshead. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential within a mainstream classroom setting.
The pupil is based within the main classroom and displays no challenging behaviour. They require additional support primarily with understanding and accessing their work, particularly around comprehension. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on a child’s educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil with SEND
- Assist the pupil in understanding classwork and instructions
- Adapt learning materials to meet the pupil’s needs
- Work closely with the class teacher to monitor progress
- Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement in learning
- Support the overall classroom environment when required
- Previous experience working in UK primary schools
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly KS2
- Patient, nurturing, and supportive approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
