Do you have a passion for helping children with additional needs thrive in education? Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team, supporting pupils in mainstream primary schools across Plymouth. These pupils may have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or be awaiting placement in specialist provisions, meaning your support will play a crucial role in their educational journey.

Your Role

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to deliver personalised strategies and support plans.
  • Help pupils access the curriculum, remain engaged, and build confidence in their learning.
  • Support behaviour management and emotional regulation, using a calm and consistent approach.
  • Encourage independence, social interaction, and positive classroom participation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN (within schools, care, youth work, or similar settings).
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Relevant qualifications or SEN training are beneficial but not essential.
