Are you passionate about the outdoors and making a real difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Unqualified Teacher of Outdoor Education to inspire, engage and support pupils through practical, hands‑on learning experiences.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives outside the traditional classroom and enjoys bringing learning to life through outdoor activities while supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

About the Role

As our Outdoor Education Teacher, you will lead the delivery of high‑quality outdoor learning experiences that promote confidence, independence and teamwork. You will play a key role in supporting both the academic and personal development of our pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging outdoor education sessions.

  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress.

  • Support children and young people with a range of special educational needs.

  • Contribute to a broad and balanced curriculum, including teaching other subjects where appropriate.

  • Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.

  • Make use of local outdoor environments and facilities to enhance learning experiences.

  • Support pupils in developing life skills, resilience and independence.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • A genuine passion for outdoor learning and education.

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN setting.

  • A strong understanding of health and safety and risk assessment in outdoor environments.

  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging and inclusive learning activities.

  • Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Lowland Leader Award.

  • Hill and Moorland Leader Award.

  • Experience delivering or supporting the Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE).
