We are working with a welcoming secondary school in Darwen, Lancashire, who are seeking a Science Technician to join their team from April 2026 on a temporary-to-permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality science education in a busy and well-resourced department.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:00am β 4:00pm
The Role: As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the science department by ensuring lessons run smoothly and safely. Duties will include:
- Preparing, setting up, and clearing away equipment for science lessons
- Supporting practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
- Maintaining, organising, and safely storing equipment and materials
- Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times
- Supporting teaching staff with practical demonstrations and experiments
- Assisting with stock control and ordering of resources
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a laboratory environment (desirable)
- A good understanding of health and safety in a science setting
- Organised, reliable, and able to work independently
- A team player with strong communication skills
- Experience working in a school setting is advantageous
