The Role

Starting September 2025, as a cover supervisor, you will support schools during key periods such as short-term and long-term sickness, maternity cover, and ongoing staffing gaps. Most short-term cover assignments involve general classroom supervision, where you’ll be given pre-prepared work and expected to maintain strong behaviour management to help students complete their tasks. If you have subject expertise, we can also place you in roles covering lessons within your specialist area.

For those interested in longer-term positions, we offer temp-to-perm opportunities. After an initial 16-week placement through Teaching Personnel, you may be offered a permanent contract by the school, allowing both you and the school to assess the fit before committing.

We also provide cover supervisor training courses designed for individuals who are not qualified teachers or have limited classroom experience. This is a great chance to build confidence and gain valuable real-world teaching exposure, particularly if you’re considering pursuing a PGCE.
