Teaching Personnel’s Wirral branch is proud to be supporting a number of mainstream secondary schools across the Wirral and Cheshire area in their search for dedicated and skilled Maths, Science, and English Teachers ahead of the September 2026 academic year. Due to increasing demand, we are also able to offer earlier start dates from June 2026 for suitable candidates, including opportunities to secure roles before the end of the current academic year.
We are recruiting for a variety of positions to suit different career goals and availability, including permanent roles, long-term contracts, and flexible day-to-day supply teaching.
Role Overview
Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons within their subject specialism, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting pupils of varying abilities to reach their full academic potential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons in Maths, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), or English
- Assessing, recording, and reporting on student progress in line with school policies
- Adapting teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including SEN and high-achieving pupils
- Maintaining strong classroom management and behaviour for learning
- Contributing to departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and whole-school initiatives (for long-term/permanent roles)
- Building positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

Salary & Pay Structure
Teaching Personnel ensures competitive and transparent pay in line with national expectations:
- Permanent Roles (via schools): MPS (M1–M6): £30,000 – £41,333 per annum (depending on experience) UPS (UPS1–UPS3): £43,266 – £46,525 per annum
- Additional TLR payments may be available for leadership responsibilities
- Supply & Long-Term Roles (via Teaching Personnel): Competitive daily rates reflective of experience and responsibilities
- Long-term roles with full teaching duties are often paid in line with MPS/UPS equivalent rates
- Weekly pay through PAYE (no umbrella company deductions)
Candidate Requirements

Essential criteria:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Degree in a relevant subject area
- Strong subject knowledge in Maths, Science, or English
- Effective classroom and behaviour management skills

Desirable:
- Experience teaching in UK secondary schools
- Familiarity with GCSE and/or A-Level specifications
- Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities or intervention programmes
