Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to work at one of our SEMH schools in Colchester. The school supports boys aged 10-16 with a range of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a safe, supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve both socially and academically without limits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing one‑to‑one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Supporting students to engage positively with learning and develop emotional regulation skills.
  • Building strong, consistent relationships to help pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering a flexible and personalised curriculum tailored to individual needs.
  • Encouraging pupils to make positive choices, build confidence, and develop independence.
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies and promoting a calm, structured learning environment.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behaviour, care, or youth work backgrounds (desirable).
  • Patient, resilient, and able to build positive relationships.
  • Can remain calm under pressure and support pupils with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Passionate about helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
  • Previous sports coaching or PE based hobbies would be a bonus.
