We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Clitheroe, Lancashire from November 2026 until April 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Working across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, you will provide targeted academic, emotional and behavioural support to students, helping them to engage positively with school life and improve their outcomes.
The Role
As a Learning Mentor, you will:
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students across Years 7–11.
- Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to support learning, attendance, behaviour and wellbeing.
- Identify and address barriers to learning, working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and parents/carers.
- Support students who may be vulnerable, disengaged or at risk of underachievement.
- Monitor, record and evaluate student progress and intervention outcomes.
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience, self-esteem and independence.
- Assist students during lessons and throughout the school day as required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with young people within a school, youth work, mentoring or pastoral support setting.
- A passion for helping students overcome challenges and achieve success.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation abilities.
- A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
