Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support within a specialist educational setting in the Chippenham area. This rewarding full-time position is available from September 2026, with flexibility for an earlier start if suitable.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with an individual learner, providing personalised support that enables them to access education, develop confidence and achieve meaningful progress. We’re looking for someone who has previous SEN experience and can confidently step into the classroom from the outset. No two days are the same in this role. You’ll become a trusted adult, helping one pupil overcome barriers to learning while supporting their emotional wellbeing, communication and independence throughout the school day.

  • Delivering dedicated one-to-one support tailored to individual needs.
  • Encouraging participation during lessons and wider school activities.
  • Implementing personalised learning strategies agreed by the teaching team.
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Using positive behaviour techniques consistently and effectively.
  • Recording observations and contributing to progress reviews.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and parents where appropriate.
  • Preparing resources that enable pupils to access learning successfully.
  • Maintaining safeguarding procedures and promoting pupil welfare at all times.

Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs is essential. Candidates should have:

  • Confidence working independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.
  • Excellent patience, empathy and resilience.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, flexible and professional attitude.
  • The ability to quickly establish positive relationships.
  • Confidence to hit the ground running from your first day.
