Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Chester. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils’ learning and development in a nurturing and inclusive environment. The role is initially until the Summer holidays, with the possibility of continuing into the new academic year in September.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the primary curriculum
  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning and provide targeted support
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Support pupils with additional needs, ensuring inclusive practice and equal access to learning
  • Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials
  • Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and school activities where required
  • Contribute to the assessment and tracking of pupil progress
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a primary school or with children (essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, flexible and proactive approach
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
