We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 (KS1) Primary Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Chester from September. This is a full-time, fixed-term role running until the February half-term, with a strong possibility of extension through to the end of the academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to KS1 pupils, fostering a positive classroom environment, and supporting pupils’ academic and personal development.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and effective lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum
- Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and higher-attaining learners
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider staff
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues
- Contribute to the wider school community and extracurricular activities where appropriate
- Uphold school policies, safeguarding procedures, and behaviour management standards
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
- Experience teaching within Key Stage 1
- Strong knowledge of the UK primary curriculum
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Passion for teaching and supporting young learners
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Experience teaching in Year 1 or Year 2
- Experience supporting phonics development (e.g., Read Write Inc. or similar programme)
- Strong understanding of formative assessment practices
