We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Functional Skills Tutor to support learners in the Chester (CH2) area. This role involves delivering tailored one‑to‑one tuition in Functional Skills English and/or Maths, helping learners develop essential skills, build confidence, and achieve their educational goals. Sessions will be personalised to meet individual learning needs and may take place in the learner's home, school, or a suitable community setting.

  • Deliver engaging Functional Skills tuition in English and/or Maths.
  • Assess learners' current abilities and create personalised learning plans.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and needs.
  • Track and report on learner progress.
  • Encourage learner engagement, confidence, and independence.
  • Maintain accurate records of sessions and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
  • Strong knowledge of the Functional Skills curriculum.
  • Ability to build positive and productive relationships with learners.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Teaching qualification or relevant tutoring experience preferred.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
