Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming Primary school in Chepstow to recruit a dedicated Autism Support Teaching Assistant to work within their Specialist Resource Base (SRB) from September. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a specialist setting, helping them access learning, develop independence and reach their full potential in a safe, nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism
  • Support pupils in communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
  • Implement personalised learning and behaviour support strategies
  • Work closely with the class teacher, ALNCo and wider support team
  • Help create a calm, structured and engaging learning environment
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and personal development

  • Passionate about supporting children with additional learning needs
  • Able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Flexible, proactive and a strong team player
  • Experience supporting Autism or other additional learning needs is desirable but not essential

Requirements and Eligibility

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
  • Right to work in the UK
  • A genuine passion for working with children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
