About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Sports & Behaviour Support Mentor to support both general classroom learning and pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) at one of our partner secondary schools/pupil referral units in the Carmarthen area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone resilient, patient, and motivated to make a real difference in young people’s lives. You’ll play a key role in supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour or emotional needs, providing consistency, encouragement, and understanding to help them remain focused, engaged, and confident throughout the school day.

While the role is primarily classroom-based, there will be opportunities to use sport to enhance participation and support wider school involvement. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain valuable school-based experience, and could be an excellent first step toward a career in education, coaching, youth work, or sports development.

  • The ability to implement behaviour management and de-escalation strategies effectively
  • A commitment to promoting engagement, confidence, and emotional development
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment

This Role Is Perfect For:

  • Sports students seeking placement hours or practical experience linked to their studies
  • Graduates exploring careers in teaching, sports development, or youth support
  • Individuals passionate about supporting and inspiring young people
