Full-Time 1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEMH Setting

We are seeking a full-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within a specialist SEMH provision based in Carlisle. The setting supports children and young people who require a highly structured, therapeutic, and relationship-led approach to education. This role is to start as soon as possible and will involve providing consistent, individualised support to help a pupil engage with learning, regulate emotions, and develop positive behaviours throughout the school day.
The Role:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs
- Supporting engagement with learning and daily routines
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
- Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
- Promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and positive relationships
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- A calm, consistent, and resilient approach
- The ability to build positive, trusting relationships
- Previous experience in an SEN or alternative provision setting (desirable)
