Teaching Personnel is seeking a committed and resilient Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a primary school setting in the CF5 area of Cardiff from September. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with a range of additional needs and are motivated to make a meaningful difference in their educational journey.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Additional Learning Needs
- Work closely with the class teacher and ALNCO to implement individual development plans (IDPs)
- Support pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social/emotional needs
- Promote a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques where required
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people with ALN (school-based or transferable experience)
- Calm, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting learning and behaviour
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
