A welcoming primary school in Bury is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 4 pupil who finds certain aspects of learning and the school environment challenging. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity running from September 2026 until the end of the 2026/27 academic year, offered through Teaching Personnel.

Monday to Friday, 8.30am–3.30pm

Pay: Competitive daily rate, paid weekly

In this role, you will provide consistent 1:1 support to help the pupil access learning, regulate emotions, and engage positively with the school day. The child benefits from a calm, patient adult who can provide structure, reassurance, and clear boundaries while encouraging independence and confidence over time.

You will be part of a wider school team and will work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to implement behaviour strategies and support plans tailored to the pupil’s needs.

  • Confident supporting behaviour in a positive, proactive way
  • Observant and reflective, able to adapt support as the child’s needs change
  • Experience supporting children with behavioural, social, or emotional needs is highly desirable, whether in a school, care, youth work, or similar setting.
  • Providing 1:1 behavioural and emotional support throughout the school day
  • Supporting the pupil to engage with learning in the classroom and wider school environment
  • Helping to manage transitions and potentially challenging moments
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and SEN professionals
  • Monitoring progress and feeding back to relevant staff
