Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a dedicated Learning Support Staff Member to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Bury.

The Role

As a Learning Support Staff Member, you will play an important role in supporting pupils with varying learning, communication, and developmental needs. Working alongside teachers and school leaders, you will help ensure that all pupils can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.

You may support pupils with:

  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)

The role will involve providing tailored support, encouraging independence, and helping pupils develop both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group learning support.
  • Assist pupils in accessing classroom activities and the wider curriculum.
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • Encourage participation, engagement, and independence.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO, and wider school staff.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to pupil support plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support personal care where necessary.

We are looking for somebody who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Is patient, nurturing, and committed to supporting pupil development.
  • Understands the importance of inclusive education.
  • Can build positive and professional relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is adaptable and able to respond to the varying needs of learners.
  • Holds relevant qualifications within education, childcare, health and social care, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
