Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Mentor to join a specialist SEN School and College in Bury. This rewarding full-time role involves supporting young people aged 11-19 with a range of additional and complex needs across both secondary and post-16 education.

As a Learning Mentor, you'll be a positive role model, helping students develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need to thrive both in education and in everyday life.

Responsibilities

• Build positive and trusting relationships with young people
• Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring support tailored to individual needs
• Support students with social, emotional, behavioural, and learning barriers
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
• Assist students to develop communication, social, and life skills
• Promote confidence, self-esteem, and independence
• Support students during lessons, enrichment activities, and transitions throughout the day
• Provide personal care when required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, support staff, and families
• Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

• Experience working with young people in education, care, youth work, residential care, support work, or similar settings
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
• Confidence supporting individuals with additional needs and behaviours that may challenge
• Comfortable providing personal care when required
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Positive, proactive, and adaptable attitude
• Passion for helping young people reach their full potential
• Available for full‑time work, Monday-Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
