We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to join our supportive primary school team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with older primary pupils, supporting their academic progress, confidence and independence in a positive learning environment.
Location: Burnley
Contract: Full-time (Maternity cover)
Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Start Date: September 2026 or ASAP
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging KS2 lessons
- Work with individuals and small groups to support learning in core subjects
- Assist with preparing resources and classroom activities
- Support pupils with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence
- Help track pupil progress and provide feedback to the teacher
- Support pupils during lessons, interventions and school activities
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children in a school or similar setting
- An understanding of the KS2 curriculum
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A patient, adaptable and positive approach
- A commitment to supporting all pupils to achieve their potential
Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting interventions (e.g. reading, writing or maths)
- Experience working with pupils with additional needs
- A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3)
