About the Role
Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with a number of secondary and primary schools across Bristol who are seeking dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Support Workers to join their teams. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development within an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pastoral care and emotional support to pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Support students with behavioural needs, helping them to stay engaged with learning
- Build strong relationships with pupils, acting as a trusted adult and role model
- Assist with attendance, behaviour tracking, and intervention strategies
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams, and safeguarding leads
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, care, or similar)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional or complex needs
- Ability to build rapport quickly and effectively
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided)
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviour
- Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, youth work, or childcare
