Are you a caring and patient Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding 1:1 role in a supportive primary school? We are working closely with a friendly, welcoming primary school in the BS40 area that is seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a lovely child in KS2 with autism who requires additional support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with autism
  • Support access to learning, helping the child to engage with classroom activities and the curriculum
  • Implement strategies to promote independence, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Adapt tasks and resources to meet the child’s individual needs and learning style
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to follow support plans
  • Build a trusting, positive relationship with the pupil and contribute to their social and emotional development
  • Help maintain a calm, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience working with children in a primary school, ideally in a 1:1 or SEN role
  • Understanding of autism and strategies that support pupils with additional needs
  • Patient, empathetic and able to build strong, supportive relationships
  • Good communication skills and a proactive, flexible approach
  • Relevant SEN or Teaching Assistant experience or qualifications highly desirable
