Teaching Personnel is recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to work in a secondary school in Bridgend. This role is ideal for candidates with experience supporting students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and challenging behaviour. You will support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, helping them to access learning, regulate behaviour, and develop confidence in a structured secondary school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and behavioural needs
- Provide 1:1 and small group classroom support
- Manage and support challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
- Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons
- Support pupils’ emotional, social, and academic development
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Follow and contribute to Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
- Support pupils during transitions, break times, and interventions
- Record and report pupil progress and behaviour when required
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people
- Confidence supporting challenging behaviour
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
- Experience supporting ALN / SEN pupils
- Previous work in a secondary school
- Relevant qualifications (Teaching Assistant, Education, Childcare, Psychology, Youth Work, Sport Coaching)
- Knowledge of positive behaviour management strategies
