Teaching Personnel are currently working with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Bradford who are looking to appoint a dedicated and passionate

Head of Year to join their pastoral team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people, improving behaviour and attendance, and helping students achieve their full potential .

The successful candidate will play a key role in providing outstanding pastoral care and building positive relationships with students, parents and staff.

The Role

As Head of Year, you will

  • Take responsibility for the pastoral leadership and day-to-day welfare of an allocated year group.
  • Monitor and improve student progress, attendance, punctuality and behaviour .
  • Provide targeted support to students experiencing academic, behavioural, social or emotional difficulties .
  • Build strong and positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers and external agencies where appropriate.
  • Manage and respond to pastoral and behavioural concerns, following school policies and procedures.
  • Set high expectations and encourage students to take responsibility for their behaviour and learning.
  • Use attendance, behaviour and progress data to identify students requiring additional support.
  • Work closely with Form Tutors, Heads of Department, SLT and the wider pastoral team.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive, inclusive and supportive school culture.

We are looking for someone who is

  • Experienced within a

UK secondary school setting .

  • Experienced in a pastoral, behaviour, safeguarding or student-support role.
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour and difficult conversations.
  • Able to build excellent relationships with students of all abilities and backgrounds.
  • Highly organised with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Passionate about improving student outcomes, attendance, behaviour and wellbeing .
  • Confident working collaboratively as part of a wider pastoral team.
  • Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection .
  • Committed to promoting high expectations and positive behaviour.

Applicants must

  • Have previous experience working within a UK school setting .
  • Have experience in a pastoral, behaviour, safeguarding, Head of Year or similar student-support role .
  • Hold, or be willing to apply for, an enhanced DBS on the Update Service .
  • Have the right to work in the UK .
  • Be available for full-time work .
