About the Role

Teaching Personnel is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive mainstream primary school in the Bracknell area.

This rewarding role involves providing targeted support to pupils, with a particular focus on working 1:1 with a Year 4 pupil diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the pupil engage with learning, manage behavioural challenges, and build confidence within the classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs, ensuring access to the curriculum.
  • Support the pupil in managing behaviour and maintaining focus during lessons.
  • Assist in the delivery of learning activities, both on a 1:1 basis and within small groups.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in learning.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to implement tailored support strategies.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly ASD (essential).
  • Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small group settings.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to the needs of the pupil and school environment.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development (training opportunities will be provided).
