A SEN/PRU Primary School in Bournemouth is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.

The Role:

  • You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students ranging in the ages 4-11 years old, with various SEN and behavioural difficulties such as ADHD, ADD, ASD, CD, MLD, OCD, ODD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties and other behavioural needs.
  • The school is extremely committed to preparing pupils for a safe, happy and productive adult life, as well as having amazing commitment to safeguarding children and promoting children’s welfare.
  • It is expected of all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this same commitment to maintain a vigilant and safe environment.
  • Their approach in developing a strong relationship with their pupils helps empower the students to face and embrace challenges in a safe and consistent environment.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Applicant must be comfortable working in a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit).
  • A patient, resilient, innovative and caring individual with a compassionate approach to supporting children.
  • SEMH/mental health experience in or out of an educational setting.
  • Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff.
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely.

Working Hours/Benefits:

  • Full Time Monday and Tuesday = 08:30 – 16:00
  • Wednesday and Thursday = 08:30 – 15:15
  • Friday = 08:30 – 15:00
  • Teaching Personnel offers its educators over 10 SEN training courses which are free of charge, plus plenty more with a generous discount!
  • 12.07% Holiday Pay.
  • Please note, this role is Term-Time Only.
