SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Bournemouth, Dorset

Salary: £13.75 an hour

Start Date: Immediate / Flexible

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students aged 11-16 years old with various special educational needs:

  • All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Primary needs: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.
  • Additional needs may include ADHD, dyslexia, OCD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Speech and Language Communication Needs (SLCN), and attachment difficulties.

The school provides therapeutic support including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, and equine therapy. With specialist classrooms, outdoor spaces, small-group learning and a life-skills curriculum, it has been praised for its calm, structured environment and strong pastoral care, awarding the school with a mixture of “Good” and “Outstanding” Ofsted ratings!

  • Full time, part time and flexible availability applicants will be considered for this role Monday-Friday Term Time Only.
