We are seeking a qualified and experienced Physical Therapy Assistant to join a specialist Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Blackpool. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with complex physical, developmental, and learning needs in a structured educational environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of physiotherapy programmes designed by a qualified Physiotherapist, helping pupils to develop mobility, independence, and physical wellbeing to enable greater access to learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement physiotherapy programmes under the guidance of a registered Physiotherapist
- Support pupils with mobility, posture management, stretching, and functional movement activities
- Assist with the use of specialist equipment, including mobility aids and positioning supports
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the therapy and education teams
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent care
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment at all times
Essential Requirements
- Relevant qualification as a Physical Therapy / Physiotherapy Assistant
- Proven experience working as a Physical Therapy Assistant
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, disabilities, or complex needs
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child-centred practice
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Good communication and record-keeping skills

- Experience within a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of EHCPs and therapy provision in SEN environments
