Location: Blackburn, Lancashire

Hours: 5 afternoons per week (term time only)

We are looking to appoint a caring, committed, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This part-time, afternoons-only role supports two children in a Year 6 class, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

  • Provide one-to-one and targeted support for two pupils with Special Educational Needs in a Year 6 classroom.
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum and remain engaged in learning.
  • Assist with implementing individual support plans and agreed strategies.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Liaise effectively with the class teacher, SENDCo, and other professionals.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Have experience working with children, preferably those with Special Educational Needs.
  • Be patient, caring, and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Have good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be reliable, adaptable, and able to work on their own initiative.
  • Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. FREE child protection and prevent duty training for registered candidates. Subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and other pre-employment checks. This advert is for a temporary position, with the option to become permanent later.
