A warm and supportive mainstream primary school in the Blackburn & Darwen area is seeking an experienced EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years provision on a full-time, long-term basis. The role includes elements of SEN support, so confidence working with children with additional needs is essential.

Mandatory Requirement

  • To be considered for this role, candidates must have in-date Paediatric First Aid training. (If the certificate is expiring soon, renewal will be required.)

What We’re Looking For

  • At least one year of EYFS experience (Nursery or Reception)
  • In-date Paediatric First Aid certificate
  • Confidence supporting early development, phonics, and learning through play
  • Experience supporting children with SEN is highly desirable

Key Responsibilities

  • Support children across Nursery and/or Reception with early learning activities
  • Deliver phonics, early number skills, and communication support
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group SEN support where required
  • Help create a nurturing, stimulating EYFS learning environment
  • Assist with observations and early development recording
  • Work collaboratively with the teacher and wider EYFS team

Ideal Candidate Qualities

  • Strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum
  • Warm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Experience with speech & language delays, ASD, ADHD, or developmental needs
  • Creative, proactive, and confident in play-based learning
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
