Job Overview
We are recruiting an enthusiastic English Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school located on Fairfax Road, Sutton Coldfield from September. This is a full‑time, long‑term, temporary position (with potential to become permanent). The role involves delivering engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering engaging English lessons in line with the UK National Curriculum
- Teaching across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to teach KS5 depending on experience
- Assessing, monitoring, and recording pupil progress where required
- Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, and the wider school community
- Following all safeguarding and school procedures
Qualifications
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
- Have experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
- Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Have strong communication and organisational abilities
- Are passionate about raising student attainment and engagement
- Are adaptable, reliable, and committed to delivering high‑quality teaching
- Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
