We are currently seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Behaviour & Pastoral Support Assistants to work on a full-time basis across a range of schools in Chorley and Skelmersdale, starting in September. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people who may face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build positive relationships, and achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students
- Support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviour effectively
- Assist teachers in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Encourage pupil engagement, attendance, and participation in lessons
- Implement behaviour support strategies and individual support plans
- Act as a positive role model, promoting confidence, resilience, and independence
Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- The ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
- Experience within education, youth work, care, support work, sports coaching, or similar settings is highly desirable
