Teaching Personnel is looking for a confident Behaviour Support Worker to join an established specialist provision in Bedford. This is more than just a classroom role; you will act as a mentor and guide for students aged 11–16 (Key Stage 3 and 4), helping them navigate social, emotional, and academic challenges. Your primary goal is to foster a safe, inclusive environment where students can either successfully re-integrate into mainstream education or build the essential skills needed for life beyond school.
Your Responsibilities:
- Empower Learning: Work 1:1 or in small groups to drive positive academic engagement and emotional growth.
- Plan & Collaborate: Assist teaching staff in designing inclusive activities and developing tailored Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
- Behaviour Mentoring: Implement positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies (such as Team Teach) to manage complex behaviours with empathy and professionalism.
- Track Progress: Carefully monitor and record student milestones, ensuring every "small win" is recognised and celebrated.
- Community Liaison: Act as a vital bridge between the school, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student welfare.
Requirements:
- Experience: A proven background working with children or young adults with SEND, SEMH, or significant behavioural challenges.
- Qualifications: Ideally Team Teach trained (though we highly encourage those willing to undergo training to apply).
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills and a natural ability to remain calm and collected under pressure.
- Compliance: An Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one). Full Right to Work in the UK and a minimum of 3 months UK residency. Overseas criminal clearance where applicable.
