Teaching Personnel are looking for supportive, patient and dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistants in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. A rewarding opportunity to support children with additional learning and emotional needs in a nurturing, specialist school environment. Your role:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Helping children manage emotions, behaviour, and learning tasks.
  • Using positive behaviour strategies while reassuring pupils that their participation is welcomed and valued.
  • Supporting up to GCSE level in the classroom.
  • Observing and celebrating pupil’s progress.
  • Creating a calm, safe, and encouraging learning environment.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Is patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient.
  • Is interested in child development, mental health, or special education.
  • Communicates well and works effectively as part of a team.
  • Has experience with children (desirable, not essential).
  • Understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children.
  • A willingness to learn and undertake training as necessary to support students with diverse physical and educational needs.
