Autism Teaching Assistant

Do you have a passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs? We are looking for a dedicated Autism Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Bournemouth.

This is a full-time role with an immediate start, working with pupils aged 5–18 years across both primary and secondary phases.

About the Role

  • Position: Autism Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Bournemouth
  • Hours: 9.30am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday
  • Contract: Full-time, long-term with potential for permanent opportunities
  • Start Date: Immediate

You will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Physical Disabilities (PD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Your role will involve working closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with autism and other complex needs in both classroom and individual settings.
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies to promote positive learning experiences.
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage independence and confidence in pupils through personalised support.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure holistic development.

  • Minimum of 6 months’ experience in childcare or education, ideally supporting children with SEN needs.
