Teaching Personnel are working with a mainstream primary school in the OL6 area that are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and enthusiastic SEND Specialist Support Assistant to join their SEND Hub.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND within our specialist SEND Hub and mainstream classrooms.
  • Deliver structured interventions and personalised learning activities under the guidance of the SENDCo and teaching staff.
  • Support pupils to develop social, emotional, communication, and independence skills.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies consistently and effectively.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to review meetings as required.
  • Promote an inclusive environment where all pupils feel safe, valued, and supported.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEND, preferably within a primary school setting.
  • A strong understanding of a range of additional needs and effective support strategies.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and the confidence to support pupils who may present with challenging behaviour.
  • The ability to remain calm, patient, and solution-focused in demanding situations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting learning and wellbeing.
