Teaching Personnel are working with a mainstream primary school in the OL6 area that are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and enthusiastic SEND Specialist Support Assistant to join their SEND Hub.
Responsibilities
- Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND within our specialist SEND Hub and mainstream classrooms.
- Deliver structured interventions and personalised learning activities under the guidance of the SENDCo and teaching staff.
- Support pupils to develop social, emotional, communication, and independence skills.
- Implement behaviour support strategies consistently and effectively.
- Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to review meetings as required.
- Promote an inclusive environment where all pupils feel safe, valued, and supported.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children with SEND, preferably within a primary school setting.
- A strong understanding of a range of additional needs and effective support strategies.
- Excellent behaviour management skills and the confidence to support pupils who may present with challenging behaviour.
- The ability to remain calm, patient, and solution-focused in demanding situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting learning and wellbeing.
