Teaching Personnel is recruiting caring and committed SEND Learning Support Assistants to work closely with individual pupils in supportive schools across Taunton and the surrounding areas. Role: SEND Learning Support Assistant

Pay Rate: £95–£105 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs throughout the school day
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs and learning style
  • Support the implementation of EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans
  • Promote independence, engagement, and confidence in learning
  • Support emotional wellbeing, communication, and behaviour regulation
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff to ensure consistent support

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND (desirable but not essential)
  • Transferable experience (e.g., care, youth work, psychology, mentoring, family SEND experience)
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • A genuine desire to support pupils and develop within education

  • All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
  • All pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
  • This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
