We are working in partnership with a small, specialist SEMH setting in Chorley that provides education for pupils aged 6–16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and additional SEND requirements. The school offers a therapeutic and nurturing learning environment, focusing on overcoming barriers to education and supporting pupils to re‑engage with learning.
With a low pupil‑to‑staff ratio and highly personalised approach, every learner receives tailored support and individualised learning plans to promote both academic progress and personal development. The curriculum is broad and balanced, incorporating core subjects alongside creative, practical, and vocational opportunities, while placing strong emphasis on life skills, emotional wellbeing, and personal development. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, structured, and supportive environment, where positive relationships are at the heart of everything they do.
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Support Teaching Assistant to join our team. You will play a key role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, helping them to thrive in a structured and supportive setting.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students
- Support classroom learning across a range of subjects
- Assist in managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies
- Promote students’ emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver individual support plans
- Contribute to creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about supporting young people with SEMH and additional needs
- Calm, patient, and able to de‑escalate challenging situations
- Experienced in education, care, or youth work (preferred but not essential)
- A strong communicator with a positive and proactive approach
- Committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential
