A secondary school in Merthyr is seeking a Behaviour Support Coach (also known as a Behaviour Mentor or Behaviour Officer) to work closely with students who need additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement in school life. Your Role

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with pastoral and teaching staff to provide a consistent and supportive presence for students who struggle with behaviour, emotional needs, or attendance. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups with behaviour, motivation, and emotional regulation
  • De-escalating challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Promoting positive behaviour through tailored interventions and mentoring
  • Recording behaviour incidents and helping implement behaviour support plans
  • Encouraging students to re-engage with learning and school routines
