Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a long-term position where you can make a real difference to two pupils? Teaching Personnel is working with a welcoming primary school in Aintree, Liverpool, to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant from October half-term 2026. You will work on a 2:1 basis, supporting two pupils in Year 2 throughout the school day. The role will initially be offered on a temporary basis through Teaching Personnel, with the intention of becoming permanent for the right person.

The role will involve:

  • Supporting two Year 2 pupils with their learning and engagement
  • Helping the pupils access classroom activities and follow instructions
  • Breaking tasks into clear, manageable steps
  • Providing encouragement, reassurance and consistent support
  • Supporting the development of confidence and independence
  • Helping with phonics, reading, writing and early mathematics
  • Using visual resources and adapted activities where appropriate
  • Supporting positive behaviour, classroom routines and emotional regulation
  • Monitoring progress and feeding back to the class teacher and SENCO
  • Working closely with school staff to provide consistent support

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have recent experience working as a Teaching Assistant
  • Are confident supporting pupils within KS1, ideally Year 2
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships with children
  • Have a calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Are able to adapt activities to meet individual needs
  • Work well alongside teachers, support staff and the SENCO
  • Are reliable and able to commit to a long-term position
  • Would be interested in progressing into a permanent school role

A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification would be advantageous, but applicants with strong, relevant school experience will also be considered.
