Overview

Make a Real Difference as a 1:1 Tutor in Dorset

Teaching Personnel are looking for passionate and experienced educators to provide Maths and English tuition across Dorset, including Poole, Weymouth, Dorchester and surrounding areas.

As a 1:1 tutor, you’ll plan and deliver personalised catch-up programmes in one or more core subjects to pupils who are currently out of mainstream education. Many of these young people have diverse SEND and SEMH needs, which can act as a barrier to learning. Your role will be to support, inspire, and give them the tools to succeed.

We are seeing a particular increase in requests to support pupils working at Primary curriculum level, so specialists in this area are especially encouraged to apply. However, we also receive regular tuition requests for KS3 and KS4 learners, so applications from educators across all key stages are welcome.

This flexible role allows you to choose how much or how little work you take on – making it ideal for anyone looking to balance their professional life with other commitments.

What We Offer

  • £25–£30 per hour (PAYE)

  • Weekly pay for reliable income

  • Flexible working patterns to fit your lifestyle

  • Local and consistent work across Dorset

  • Full-time or part-time opportunities

  • A chance to make a profound difference in the lives of vulnerable young people

  • Continuous support from a dedicated consultant

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent professional teaching qualifications

  • A patient, enthusiastic, and resilient approach to education

  • Experience working with pupils with SEND and/or challenging behaviour (desirable but not essential)

  • Ability to adapt and differentiate learning to meet individual needs

If you’re ready to use your skills to help transform the lives of young learners across Dorset, we’d love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
