1:1 Tutor – Dorchester | Flexible Hours | Immediate Start

TP Tutors are actively recruiting one‑to‑one Tutors in Dorchester to deliver face‑to‑face tuition to young people currently outside of mainstream education.

This is more than a tutoring role – this is your chance to help young people rebuild their confidence, overcome personal barriers, and re‑engage with learning through delivering bespoke and targeted tuition.

About the Role

As a tutor, you will support learners with a variety of additional needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, anxiety and school avoidance, using a personalised, patient, and creative approach.

  • Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions in homes or community settings.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with learners.
  • Adapt lessons to suit individual needs and learning styles.
  • Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
  • Support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
  • Help students re‑engage with education and achieve realistic goals.
  • Track progress and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.
  • Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, including teachers, ex‑teachers, SLD/MLD teachers, tutors, teaching assistants, SENCO, SEN professionals, youth workers, mentors, and intervention specialists.

To be suitable for the role, you will have

  • A minimum of 1‑year experience working with children or young people (SEN experience desirable).
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to adapt your teaching style to individual needs.
  • Access to transport or willingness to travel locally.

To be considered, you must have

  • The right to work in the UK.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Two years of recent, verifiable professional references.
