Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil with Autism in a school within the Bodmin area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in a school environment. The role will involve providing tailored support to help the pupil access learning, build confidence, and develop positive social and communication skills.
About the Role
As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide consistent, individualised support throughout the school day. You will help adapt learning activities, support emotional regulation, and create a positive and structured environment for the pupil.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism
- Support the pupil with classroom learning and daily routines
- Help implement strategies to support communication, behaviour, and engagement
- Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to follow support plans
- Encourage independence and confidence within the classroom setting
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly Autism
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Experience in a school, nursery, or care setting is desirable
