We are currently recruiting 1:1 ASD Support Assistants to work across welcoming primary schools in Carmarthen and surrounding areas from September 2026. Flexible opportunities are available, including both part-time and full-time roles, making this ideal for candidates seeking consistent school-based work or a flexible education career.

As a 1:1 ASD Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to access learning and thrive within a mainstream primary classroom. You will provide consistent, structured support to help pupils feel safe, engaged, and included in all aspects of school life.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with ASD
  • Supporting engagement with learning activities in and out of the classroom
  • Helping pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Following individual support plans set by the class teacher and ALNCo
  • Promoting positive behaviour, routine, and independence
  • Supporting transitions between lessons
