We are currently seeking a strong, highly resilient 1‑to‑1 Tutor to support some of the school’s most hard‑to‑reach and disengaged students in a secondary school setting in South Norwood. This role is ideal for an experienced tutor or teacher who is confident working independently, can build strong relationships quickly, and thrives when supporting learners who need a patient, structured, and consistent approach.
Responsibilities
- Deliver 1‑to‑1 tuition in Maths, English, and Biology
- Work with students who may be disengaged, reluctant learners, or require additional encouragement
- Adapt teaching to suit a range of levels from Entry Level through to Higher qualifications
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons independently
- Use effective strategies to support students with behavioural, emotional, or mental‑health challenges
- Help re‑engage learners and build confidence, routine, and academic progress
Key Attributes
- Resourceful – Able to plan independently and provide your own high‑quality teaching materials
- Adaptable – Confident teaching across multiple subjects and ability ranges
- Experienced – Proven background working with disengaged or hard‑to‑reach learners, SEN and/or SEMH students, challenging behaviour or alternative education settings
- Resilient & Patient – Calm, consistent, and able to build trust with students over time
