I am recruiting Youth Engagement Mentors to work within mainstream secondary schools across Central and South Bristol, supporting students who may benefit from additional guidance, encouragement and positive role models.
This role is ideal for someone who can build strong relationships with young people, inspire confidence and help students overcome challenges that may be impacting their education.
Many of the students you'll support are capable young people who simply need a trusted adult to help them re-engage with learning, improve their confidence and navigate the challenges of adolescence.

- Help students set goals and celebrate success
- Promote resilience, self-esteem and wellbeing
- Support students during unstructured times throughout the school day
- Work alongside pastoral teams, SEND departments and teaching staff
- Act as a positive, consistent role model
You may work with students who:
- Are disengaged from learning
- Need support building confidence and self-belief
- Struggle with attendance or engagement
- Require additional encouragement to reach their potential
- Have SEND or SEMH needs
- Need support developing positive relationships and social skills
- Benefit from having a trusted adult within school
The role focuses on helping students feel connected, supported and motivated within education.
We'd particularly like to hear from:
- Youth Workers
- Sports Coaches
- Behaviour Mentors
- Pastoral Support Staff
- Teaching Assistants
- Community Outreach Workers
- Residential Childcare Workers
- Family Support Workers
- Youth Volunteers
- Alternative Provision Staff
- Graduates interested in education or youth work
We're seeking people who are:
- Strong relationship-builders
- Positive, approachable and encouraging
- Confident communicating with young people
- Resilient and emotionally intelligent
- Proactive and adaptable
- Passionate about helping young people succeed
- Comfortable supporting a range of needs and personalities
- Reliable and committed
- Experience working with children or young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to motivate and engage secondary-aged students
- Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Make a meaningful difference to young people's lives
- Work in supportive mainstream secondary schools
- Develop mentoring, pastoral and student support skills
- Gain valuable experience within education
- Access ongoing CPD and training opportunities
- Long-term opportunities with potential for permanent roles
- Dedicated consultant support
If you're passionate about helping young people build confidence, engage with education and achieve their goals, I'd love to hear from you.
