Teaching Personnel is looking for compassionate, approachable and resilient Student Mental Health & Wellbeing Mentors to work within schools across Wigan.
This is a fantastic opportunity for people with experience in support work, mentoring, youth work, education, care or pastoral support who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
The Role
As a Student Mental Health & Wellbeing Mentor, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group wellbeing support
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students
- Support students experiencing anxiety, stress, low confidence or emotional difficulties
- Help students develop coping strategies and resilience
- Provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to talk
- Help students develop confidence, self-esteem and social skills
- Encourage positive engagement with education
- Work alongside teachers, pastoral teams and SENCOs
- Recognise concerns and follow appropriate safeguarding procedures
- Signpost students to appropriate support when required
We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people
- Experience in support work, mentoring, pastoral care, youth work or education
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- The ability to build positive professional relationships
- Resilience and emotional awareness
- A genuine passion for supporting young people's wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
