Teaching Personnel is proud to be recruiting for a brand new specialist SEN school opening in the Tonypandy area. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team from the very beginning and play a key role in helping shape a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for pupils with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support, helping pupils achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
• Assist in creating a nurturing, structured, and engaging learning environment within a newly established school setting.
• Work alongside teachers to deliver tailored learning activities and interventions.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support based on individual pupil needs.
• Encourage the development of communication, social, emotional, and independence skills.
• Support pupils with behavioural, sensory, and emotional needs where required.
• Help establish positive routines and expectations across the school.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
• Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team to support pupil progress and wellbeing.

Previous experience within an SEN school, specialist provision, educational setting, care environment, or supporting individuals with additional needs is desirable. However, applicants with transferable skills and a passion for working with children are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Teaching Personnel provides guidance and support for obtaining the following:

• Education Workforce Council (EWC) Registration
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
• References covering two years of employment
